Welcome to the New Year, new guitar stuff!

... blegh. Drank too much, "solved" it with hair of the dog, had terrible nightmares and didn't sleep worth a damn. Wonderful way to start a new year. :)

In happier news, I got rid of my gun. Traded it for a guitar amplifier. A Line 6 Spider Valve combo amp. Lookit, there's a picture and everything!

Did I NEED a new amplifier? No. Did I need a gun? No. And at least I'll actually use the amplifier more than 2-3 times a year. It is actually sort of a neat amp too. It is a traditional vacuum tube driven amplifier, except with digital wizardry jammed in their as well. It has artist presets from such "notable" bands as Slipknot and Vertical Horizon... LOL! But it is also programmed with a collection of great dance songs settings from famous songs, effects and all. So I can twiddle the control panel and find a close approximation of the guitar sound from... 'Barracuda' by Heart. Or 'Crazy Train' by Ozzy Osbourne. It isn't perfect, but you can adjust the sounds and then save them so you can access them with the footswitch.

And did I mention that it is LOUD? It is. Very loud. Some of the amps Line 6 makes are basically expensive guitar toys, but I've seen these amps on stage, on TV just this week although I can't remember what band was playing. It is never going to replace my old Peavey amp, but it is pretty fun to mess with and if I hook them both up to one guitar I can get some pretty cool stereo effects going on. Now, if I can just get Pro Tone Pedals to ship my distortion pedal, I'll be set for the year.
